Hello! We’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to WinGive.com. If you’re reading this blog post, you’ve likely seen our promotions of our product on social media for high-profile college football games. But it’s possible that you still have questions because social media platforms don’t allow for as much detail in the text of a post as a blog post. That’s all right- we’re here to answer those questions for you. What is WinGive? WinGive is the brainchild of Scott Arrington, a devoted sports fan who believes in the importance of giving back to the community. Thus, the abstract answer to the question of “what is WinGive?” is that it’s the fusion of his two passions into one app: WinGive is a platform that you can use to donate money to your favorite charity in honor of your favorite team’s victory. Here's how it works: The WinGive app imports the schedules and scoreboards of NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, NCAA Football, and NCAA Basketball into its app. From there, you can select your favorite teams or favorite sports. Then, select games to interact with and potentially donate to your charity of choice in honor of- which from here on out, we’ll refer to as “placing a WinGive.” Once you find a game that interests you, tap the “WinGive” button on the right side of the screen besides that game. From there, you’ll see the logos of the two teams participating in the game. Select the team that you want to represent. Lastly, select the amount you’re willing to donate. Lastly, select the charity you want to represent. You have three different avenues through which you can use the WinGive app to make charitable contributions to your favorite non-profit. Note: we say “represent” when referring to the teams and charities you select, because these different avenues alter the precise relationship between you and your selected teams and charities. Allow us to explain… Individual campaign An individual campaign is the quickest and simplest way to place a WinGive. Essentially, it’s you against yourself, and you’re pledging to donate a set amount of money to the charity you select if the team you choose to represent wins its game. Here’s how individual campaigns work: If the team you choose to represent loses, you will not be charged at all, and the charity you chose to represent won’t benefit from your pledged amount. On the flip side, if the team you chose to represent does win its game, your pledged amount becomes a direct deposit to the charity you selected in honor of your team’s victory. Essentially, if you win, you give; hence, the name “WinGive.” You can also make an individual campaign a “recurring” campaign. Here’s how recurring campaigns work: The amount you pledge to donate, your team of choice, and your selected charity will be saved in the WinGive system, and every game your selected team plays for the rest of the ongoing season, the campaign will repeat itself. For example, if you’re an Alabama Crimson Tide fan who placed a $5 individual WinGive on the 2021 Alabama-Miami Chick Fil A Kickoff Classic, chose to represent Alabama, and selected Water Missions International as your charity, for every game Alabama wins in 2021, $5 goes to Water Missions International each time the Crimson Tide wins. Public campaigns Take the initiative and bring your cause of choice to the public’s attention. Here’s how public campaigns work: When you create a public campaign, you can share the link on social media, through texts, and via email. You can also invite all your friends and relatives to place an individual WinGive on the game you’ve selected on behalf of the charity you, the creator of the campaign, choose. For a public campaign, fans of either team will get to select the team they represent and pledge an amount to the charity that you, the campaign creator, chose. If the team that the fan chose wins, that amount becomes a donation to the selected charity; if that team loses, the fan is not charged. So here, the principle remains: if a fan’s team wins, that team donates to a good cause. Do note: if you create a campaign, you yourself cannot participate in it. Peer to peer challenges Bring the competitive nature of sports to the table with a little one-on-one battle. Instead of gambling at a casino, reroute the stakes of the game to a more friendly atmosphere, and make sure it benefits a good cause: a challenge where the loser donates to the charity of the winner’s choice. Peer-to-peer campaigns work as follows: Two friends root for rival teams that play a big game that night. Both friends think their team is going to win, so they want to put their money where their mouths are. But they also believe in making the world a better place and giving back to charity whenever they can. So they set up a friendly challenge through the WinGive platform: each fan picks a charity to represent and pledges an amount. The fan of the team that loses then donates the pledged amount to the charity that the winner has chosen. (Both fans can pick the same charity.) Peer-to-peer challenges deviate slightly from individual WinGives and public campaigns in the exact relationship the user has with his or her selected charity. With individual WinGives and public campaigns, if the team you selected wins, your pledged amount goes to the charity you chose. But with a peer-to-peer challenge, if the team you selected wins, you get to keep your money- and sit back and enjoy as the other person has to donate his or her pledge to the charity that you chose.
